I have been busy getting the boat ready for the upcoming Salmon season. Everything appears to be good to go and I hope to put it in the water tomorrow for a test run. I have a few open dates in September and October. Reports from the big lake indicate that there are lots of salmon out there although the weather has hindered their abililty to get out there. I also heard that the big lake steelhead fishing has been very good. That does not suprise me with the numbers we have been seeing in the river. Some fish have been caught up by Tippy Dam and downsream where cold water tributaries enter the big river.
Typically where I fish , about halfway between the dam and the lake the best fishing is late feb. thru March. In April we get some great fishing for dropbacks, post spawn fish returning to the lake. There is some spawning activity in the areas we fish, but most of the gravel is near the dam and so are the people!
