Benzie Fishing Service

 Benzie Fishing Service is owned and operated by  David Kane, a USCG Licensed Captain. Manistee River fishing is what I do! Salmon and Steelhead are my target species. For over 25 years I have been fishing on the river. In this time I have learned the spots and methods to put you on the fish. All of my trips are aboard  my custom built Fish Rite power boat. I use a variety of fishing techniques to get the job done , from casting spawn and lures to pulling plugs. All of my trips start at Potters Landing on the Manistee River just a short drive from the town of Manistee. With half and all day trips available, and all bait and tackle provided, you are assured a quality trip on the river. Now accepting reservations!

The spring Steelhead run is over in this part of the state. I plan to do some bass and pike fishing on the river this summer. We had a few nice pike this spring and we were not even targeting them! This is casting spinner and stick baits. Half day trips only and all catch and release, which is hard for me to say but there is a limited supply of these native fish!   August is when the King Salmon run begins. I start out casting stick baits and pulling plugs, these early run fish are in great shape and excellent fighters! This fishing continues thru September and is the most popular fishing activity on the river. In October the Steelhead run begins. I am casting spawn bags at this time. This is my all time favorite, and it continues into December. We do keep some of the salmon and steelhead if you wish and free cleaning and packaging is included!

Now accepting reservations for the fall Salmon and  Steelhead Season. I have a few open dates in September and October , Last year we had great weather and lots of fish. This is prime time on the Big Manistee!
